If issues with the backup battery arise, troubleshooting may help to determine if the battery is malfunctioning. Â This document provides troubleshooting steps for ARRIS TG862 Battery Backup.

CAUTION: Make sure the VOIP phone is not in use when performing these troubleshooting steps.

To Troubleshoot the Battery

Make sure the battery is installed.

Verify the battery LED on the front.

If the battery LED is On indicates the battery is good.

If the battery LED is Flashing the battery maybe malfunctioning.  Proceed to step 3.

Remove the power cord from the modem.

If the modem is still powered On, the battery is functioning.

If the modem is not powered On, proceed to step 4.

Remove the battery from the bottom of the modem to check for battery corrosion and also the battery connector in the TG862 Modem.

If there is corrosion found on the battery, the battery needs to be replaced.

If there is corrosion in the unit or if the battery connector is damaged, replace the damage modem.

If there is no corrosion or no damage to the battery connector, re-install the battery and power on the TG862 Modem.

If the issue is not resolved, replace the battery.

If the battery has been replaced and the unit is still exhibiting the same behavior, the issue could be with the modem and may need to be replaced.
