Question
How do I enable DFS on my G18/G20 gateway?
Answer
Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) allows the G18/G20 to share the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency bands with radar systems without causing interference.  Radar systems are used mainly at airports, weather stations, and other government locations.  When DFS is enabled in the G18/G20 it will monitor the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency bands.  If the radar system frequencies are detected on the current 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band the G18/G20 will switch to another channel automatically to prevent interference.  Client devices may disconnect and reconnect when switching DFS channels and finding non-DFS channels to connect to.

When DFS is enabled Wi-Fi performance may improve as there is less interference on the new 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency bands.  Some client devices may not be able to reconnect to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band, it is recommended to disable DFS.  To use DFS channels the client devices must support DFS.  This document describes how to enable DFS.
