MAC Bridging provides a mechanism for allowing devices on the Home network to have a direct connection to the WAN. A bridged device will get an IP address directly from the Internet provider and not have access to the local network. Residential customers may find this feature useful if running a Home Server, DMZ, Video-Over IP device, IoT device, or Gaming device. The implementation of MAC Bridging works similarly to IP Passthrough. This document describes how to set up a connected client as a MAC Bridge.Â
NOTE: Configuring a MAC Bridge will only provide Internet access to the specified client device. A second WAN IP address (Public IP address) may need to be purchased from the Service Provider.Â
