Question

How do I configure WEP wireless security on my Macintosh Operating System?

Answer

WEP Wireless Setup on Apple Operating Systems

This documentation provides information on:
  • Configuring WEP wireless connections for Leopard Operating System.
  • Configuring WEP wireless connections for Tiger Operating System.
  • Verifying wireless connections for Leopard and Tiger Operating System.
Wireless client cards from different manufacturers and different operating systems accomplish connecting to a wireless LAN and enabling WEP in a variety of ways.  Consult the documentation for your particular wireless card and/or operating system.

CAUTION: You must meet the following requirements to make a connection:
  • Wireless adapter and it's associated drivers installed in your machine.
  • Wireless enabled in Motorola wireless or a third party wireless device.
  • Must have wireless settings: SSID (Network ID), WEP (encryption type) and encryption key (network key).

NOTE: If you are connecting to a third party wireless device, refer to its vendor for wireless settings.
