Question
How do I identify new devices using the McAfee SHP app?
Answer
When a new device is connected to the network, it can be identified using the McAfee SHP (Secure Home Platform) app.  Identifying the device is not necessary, but it does allows for easier management of the home network.  This article provides steps for identifying a new device connected to the network. 

Identifying a New Device
  1. When a new device is connected, a notification will appear on the Home screen.  Tap on Show.  The Devices screen will appear.

  2. Tap on the device to identify.

  3. On the pop-up, tap on the name to give the device an identifiable name.
     
  4. Tap the arrows to select the device type.  Please refer to the comparison table below for the available device types, as well as the difference in how SHP protects each device type:

  5. Tap Done when finished.

  6. A message appears on the Devices screen stating "Smart move!  Your Internet's more secure."  Tap on the X in the upper right corner to exit the Devices screen.

  7. The Security Tips page now appears, with the message "All done, rockstar!"  Tap the X in the upper right corner to return to the Home page.
