How do I identify new devices using the McAfee SHI app?
Answer
When a new device is connected to the network, it can be identified using the McAfee SHI (Secure Home Internet) app. Identifying the device is not necessary for Internet access, but it does allow McAfee SHP (Secure Home Platform) to provide greater security options for the home network. This article provides steps for identifying a new device connected to the network.Â
Identifying a New Device
When a new device is connected, a notification will appear on the Home screen. Tap on Show. The Devices screen will appear.
Â
Tap on the device to identify.
Â
On the pop-up, tap on the name to give the device an identifiable name. Â
Tap the arrows to select the device type. Please refer to the comparison table below for the available device types, as well as the difference in how SHP protects each device type: Â
