Answer | During periods of low data activity, Energy Efficient Ethernet allows for less power consumption by 50% or more while retaining full compatibility with existing equipment. Â By default Energy Efficient Ethernet is disabled in the SB6183. Â When Energy Ethernet Efficient is enabled the SB6183 will consume less power during periods of low data activity. Â This document describes how to enable Energy Efficient Energy.Â
Enable Energy Efficient Ethernet
NOTE: If the SB6183 is connected to a router, it is recommended to disconnect the router and connect the SB6183 directly to a computer with an Ethernet cable.
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Status page will appear.
 - Click the Configuration link on the main menu.  The Configuration page will appear.
 Â - Click the Energy Efficient Ethernet drop-down menu and select Enable. Â The pop-up window will appear.Â
    - On the pop-up window, click the OK button to reboot modem for changes to take effect.
