Question

How do I access the Web Manager for the SB6190 cable modem?

Answer

An admin login is available to access the Web Manager on firmware version 9.1.103AA65L and newer. It is required to login with the default admin login credentials and the default admin password must be changed during first time access. The default admin username is admin and admin password is password.

When logging into the Web Manager with a the default or customized admin password is unsuccessful, factory reset on the SB6190 is required to login with the default admin password. For instructions on how to do a factory reset, refer to Answer # 16154 - SB6190: Factory Reset.

The Web Manager is used to view and monitor the network configuration settings and operational status of the SB6190 cable modem. This document describes how to access to the Web Manager.

Web Manager Access

NOTE: If the SB6190 is connected to a router, it is recommended to disconnect the router and connect the SB6190 directly to a computer with an Ethernet cable.

Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box. The Login page will appear.

NOTE 1: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.

NOTE 2: The Status page appears on firmware versions prior to 9.1.103AA65L.
On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
Enter password in the Password field then click the Apply button. The Login Setting page will appear.
Enter password in the Old Password field.
Enter a new password in the New Password field and re-enter the new password in the Repeat New Password field.

Password Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 characters
- At least one uppercase alpha character
- At least 1 number
- One of ~ ! @ # $ % ^ * ( ) - _ = + [ ] { } | ; : , . / ?
Click the Apply button. The pop-up box will appear.
Click the OK button. The Login page will appear.
Enter admin in the Password field.
Enter the custom password in the Password field then click the Apply button. The Status page will appear.

The following are descriptions for each page in the SB6190 menu:

NOTE: The Login Settings and Logout pages are available on firmware version 9.1.103AA65L and later.
- Status - Provides information about the startup process of the Cable Modem.
- Product Information - Provides information about the current state and status of different cable modem elements.
- Event Log - Provides diagnostic messages generated by the Cable Modem, which is intended for use by a qualified technician.
- Addresses - Provides information about the network connection between the Cable Modem and the computer. Also provides details about the connection between the Cable Modem and the cable companies headend systems.
- Configuration - Provides information about the frequency the Cable Modem connects at.
- Login Settings - Provides the ability to change the admin password.
- Help - Provides information on how to troubleshoot the Cable Modem.
- Logout - Logout of the SB6190 Web Manager.
