Answer | The SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem is equipped with two 1-Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) ports on the back panel. Each Ethernet ports transmit data up to 1 Gigabit per second.  For a typical setup, connect one device (computer or Wi-Fi router) to an Ethernet port on the back of the SB8200 cable modem for Internet access.Â
Connect Multiple Client Devices The SB8200 is a cable modem and allows one client device for Internet access. To provide Internet access to multiple client devices in the home network, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the SB8200 cable modem or replace the SB8200 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like a SBG8300.
Add Advanced Features The SB8200 is a cable modem and does not include advanced features such as Wi-Fi, parental controls, port forwarding, and router functions. For advanced features, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the SB8200 cable modem or replace the SB8200 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like a SBG8300.Â
Utilize Both Ethernet Ports The 2nd Ethernet port can be used for Link Aggregation setup or adding additional IP address for Internet service. Â
- Link Aggregation Setup - Link Aggregation, combines the two wired connections between the SB8200 and Link Aggregation capable router to achieve Internet speed up to 2 Gbps.  It also provides redundancy in case one of the wired connection fails. For more information on Link Aggregation setup, refer to article # 17971 - SB8200: Link Aggregation Setup.
 - Add IP Address for Internet Service - The 2nd IP address must be subscribed from the cable provider; not all cable providers offer additional IP address for residential service.  Â
