Question
How do I reserve an IP address in the SBG6580?
Answer
In certain scenarios, it may be desired to have a client receive a particular IP address from the SBG6580, and always keep that address without having to manually configure a static IP address in the client.  This can be accomplished with the Reserve New IP Address feature in the SBG6580.  The SBG6580 can be configured to reserve a specific IP address within the DHCP range of addresses for a specific client.  When the client connects to the SBG6580, it will receive the IP address automatically that it has been reserved for.

NOTE: This option serves as a great solution for devices that are configured to use the Port Forwarding or DMZ options in the SBG6580.

By default, no IP addresses are reserved in the SBG6580.  This document describes how to reserve and unreserve an IP address for a particular client.
