In the SBG6782, NAPT mode provides Internet access for multiple devices (up to 245 devices), connecting to the SBG6782 gateway. When NAPT mode is enabled, the SBG6782 serves as a modem and a router and keeps the devices in the Local Area Network (LAN) hidden. When NAPT mode is disabled, the "router" function is turned off and the device directly connected to the SBG6782 will receive the Public IP address from the Cable Provider. This document describes how to enable Bridge mode with the following sections:
NOTE 1: Although the SBG6782 does not route traffic when NAPT mode is disabled, it can still act as a firewall if the firewall settings in the SBG6782 are enabled.
NOTE 2: It is recommended that a wired connection be used and all wireless devices should be off while setting up Bridge mode. In case of a failed login, a factory reset will be needed for the steps below.   Â
This is an ideal setup when:
- Adding a firewall, router or another NAT device to manage the Local Area Network
- Hosting services or applications that can benefit from being directly accessible from the Internet
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box.
NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1. If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.
 - Enter admin in the Username field.
- Enter motorola in the Password field.
- Click the Login button. The Status page appears.
 - Click the Wireless link on top of the screen. The Wireless Setup page appears.
 - Choose Disabled in the drop down section for Wireless.
- Click the Apply button. Changes take effect immediately.  A restart is not required.

The SBG6782 has now been configured in Bridge mode.  Make sure that the devices that are to receive a public IP address are directly connected to the SBG6782's Ethernet ports.  These devices will also need to be configured to obtain an IP address automatically.
To configure a Windows or Macintosh device to obtain an IP address automatically, please refer to the Answer link below. Â For all other devices, please contact the manufacturer.
