The SBG6900-AC includes a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, which supports Network Attached Storage (NAS) Samba Service and DLNA Media Server for media sharing.  The NAS Samba Service and DNLA Media Server features are enabled by default. Â
NOTE: The USBÂ port does NOT support an Internet connection.
When NAS Samba Service is enabled, the contents of the attached USB storage device will be accessible to the local area network (LAN) client with read-write permissions (public access). Â To access the NAS Samba Service from the LAN, use the following path \\192.168.0.252.Â
The DLNA Media Server feature when enabled, allows the media contents of the USB storage device to be accessible to any local area (LAN) client using a DLNA-certified player. Â Such as game consoles, smart TV, and media players. Â Â
RequirementsÂ
- A USB 2.0 or 3.0 Storage Device.Â
NOTE 1: Supported file formats are FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, and GPT.
NOTE 2: USB 3.0 devices require a power adapter when being used with the USB 2.0 port.
 - PC device to access the shared folders.
- Client devices must connect to the home network to access USB contents.
- DNLA-certified player to access the media-shared files.

- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the back of the SBG6900-AC.
- Power on the USB storage device if applicable.Â
- Verify front USB LED is ON.Â

- Launch a Firefox or Safari browser.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. Â
NOTE: A browser message on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera, may appear when accessing the Web Manager.  The message includes 192.168.01 uses an unsupported protocol and ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH.  The Web Manager uses an earlier version of the TLS protocol and does not match the version allowed by the web browser.  Safari browsers on Apple PC and mobile devices are not impacted.  The workaround to access the Web Manager with a PC is to use the Firefox browser and set the TLS version to 1.  For workaround instructions refer to article # 19435 - 192.168.0.1 uses an unsupported protocol.
 - A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager.  There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager.  For instructions to bypass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.
 - On the Login page, enter admin or a customized username in the Username field.
 - Enter password or a customized password in the Password field.
NOTE: On later versions of the SBG6900-AC, the Wi-Fi Security Key is used as the default admin password printed on the bottom white label. For assistance with Web Manager Access, refer to article # 18753 – SBG6900-AC: Web Manager Access.
 - Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.
 - Move the mouse cursor over Basic on the top menu, and click the USB Connect from the drop-down submenu. The Basic - USB Connect page will appear.Â
 - On the Basic - USB Connect page, Network Attached Storage (NAS) Samba Service - Check mark the Enable box.Â
- DLNA Media Server - Check mark the Enable box.
- Click the Apply button.

NOTE: Windows 10 may require SMB v1 protocol enabled to access USB storage devices. To enable SMB v1 protocol access Control Panel> Program and Features> Turn Windows Features on and off> locate the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support folder and check the box for SMB 1.0/CIFS client. Â Click the OK button. Â Windows 10 will require a reboot and access to USB storage devices will be available.Â
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Â Enter \\192.168.0.252Â into the address box, and press the Enter key. Â The attached network device Public-Shared folder appears.
- Double-click the Public-Shared folder to access the contents.

- Launch the DLNA-certified player.
- Browse and locate the ARRIS-MediaServer name.
- Double-click ARRIS-Media Server to access the contents.
