SBG7580-AC: USB Media Sharing

• A USB 2.0 or 3.0 Storage Device. 
  
  NOTE 1: Supported file formats are FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, and GPT.
  
  NOTE 2: USB 3.0 devices require a power adapter when being used with the USB 2.0 port.
   
• PC device to access the shared folders.
• FTP client to access the FTP shared folders.
• Client device must connect to the home network to access USB contents.
• DNLA-certified player to access the media shared files.

• Connect USB Storage Device
• Enable File Sharing
• Access Content Through FTP
• Access Content Through Share Folder
• Enable Media Sharing
• Access Content on DLNA Media Server
• Enable USB Access Control
• Remove Connected USB Device

1. Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the front of the SBG7580-AC.
    
2. Power on the USB storage device if applicable. 
   
   

1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
   
   NOTE: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager.  There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager.  For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.
    
2. On the Login page, enter admin in the User Name field.
    
3. Enter password or a customized password in the Password field.
   
   NOTE: When using the default password to login, it may be required to set a unique password to proceed to the Web Manager.  For assistance with Web Manager Access, refer to article # 18248 – SBG7580-AC: Web Manager Access.
    
4. Click the Apply button.  The Alert!! window will appear.
   
   
    
5. The Alert!! window includes information about the Parental Control setup via the Secure Home Internet Service mobile app available on the Google Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS).
   • Check the Do not show this window again box and click the Close button.
   • Click the Close button to bypass the alert window.  The alert window will appear during the next login.
     
     
6. On the System Basic Setup page, click the USB link on the top menu.  The USB Status page will appear.
    
7. On the left-hand menu, click the File Sharing link.  The File Sharing page will appear. 
    
8. Check mark the Enable FTP Server box for FTP Server Access.
    
9. Check mark the Share Folder Access box for Share Folders Access. 
    
10. Click the Apply button. 
    
    

1. Launch the FTP Client.
    
2. Access the URL ftp://192.168.0.252/ for the contents.

Access Content through Share Folder

1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer.  Enter \\192.168.0.252 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The attached network device Share folder will appear.
   
   NOTE: For Macs click the Apple icon, then move the mouse over the Go menu and click on Connect to Server.  Enter smb://192.168.0.252 into the Server Address field and click the Connect button.
    
2. Click the Share folder.
   
   
    
3. Enter admin for the User Name field and the password in the Password field.  Then click the OK button.
   
   
    
4. The USB drive's content will appear.

7. On the left-hand menu, click the Media Sharing link.  The Media Sharing page will appear. 
    
8. Check mark the Enable Media Sharing box to enable media sharing.
    
9. Leave the Media Sharing Name at default or enter a custom name.
    
10. Click the Apply button.
    
    

1. Launch the DLNA-certified player.
    
2. Browse and locate the MiniDLNA name or custom name.
    
3. Double-click MiniDLNA or custom name to access the contents.

7. On the left-hand menu, click the USB Access Control link.  The USB Access Control page will appear. 
    
8. Check mark the Enable USB Access Control box to enable USB access control.
    
9. Click the Apply button.
   
   
    
10. Under the Attached USB Device section, click the bullet-point of the USB device to be approved for accessibility. 
     
11. Click the Add button. 
    
    
     
12. The added USB device will appear under the Approved USB Device section.

7. Click the bullet-point for the USB device to be removed and then click the Remove button.
   
   NOTE: To re-use the device, the USB drive will need to be removed from the USB port and re-inserted.
