Answer | NOTE: The USB feature is available on firmware version 9.1.103AA18 and later.The SBG7580-AC USB 2.0 port supports connected hard drives with SAMBA and DLNA Media Sharing. Â In addition to supporting USB 2.0 hard drives, the USB port can be used as a charging connection for mobile devices. Â The contents of the attached USB storage device can be accessible in the home network, when FTP Server or Shared Folders is enabled. Users in the home network will have read-write permissions within the USB storage device. Â The DLNA Media Server feature, when enabled, also allows the media contents of the USB storage device to be accessible in the home network using a DLNA-certified player, such as game console, smart TV, and media players. Â Â NOTE: The USBÂ port does NOT support Internet connection.RequirementsÂ
- A USB 2.0 or 3.0 Storage Device.Â
NOTE 1: Supported file formats are FAT, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, and GPT. NOTE 2: USB 3.0 devices require a power adapter when being used with the USB 2.0 port. Â - PC device to access the shared folders.
- FTP client to access the FTP shared folders.
- Client device must connect to the home network to access USB contents.
- DNLA-certified player to access the media shared files.

Connect USB Storage Device
- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the front of the SBG7580-AC.
 - Power on the USB storage device if applicable.Â
Enable File Sharing
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
NOTE: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.  - On the Login page, enter admin in the User Name field.
 - Enter password or a customized password in the Password field.
NOTE: When using the default password to login, it may be required to set a unique password to proceed to the Web Manager. For assistance with Web Manager Access, refer to article # 18248 – SBG7580-AC: Web Manager Access.  - Click the Apply button.  The Alert!! window will appear.
 - The Alert!! window includes information about the Parental Control setup via the Secure Home Internet Service mobile app available on the Google Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS).
- Check the Do not show this window again box and click the Close button.
- Click the Close button to bypass the alert window.  The alert window will appear during the next login.
- On the System Basic Setup page, click the USB link on the top menu.  The USB Status page will appear.
 - On the left-hand menu, click the File Sharing link.  The File Sharing page will appear.Â
 - Check mark the Enable FTP Server box for FTP Server Access.
 - Check mark the Share Folder Access box for Share Folders Access.Â
 - Click the Apply button.Â
Access Content Through FTP
- Launch the FTP Client.
 - Access the URL ftp://192.168.0.252/ for the contents.

NOTE: Windows 10 may require SMB v1 protocol enabled to access USB storage devices. To enable SMB v1 protocol access Control Panel> Program and Features> Turn Windows Features on and off> locate the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support folder and check the box for SMB 1.0/CIFS client.  Click the OK button.  Windows 10 will required a reboot and access to USB storage devices will be available.Â
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer.  Enter \\192.168.0.252 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The attached network device Share folder will appear.
NOTE: For Macs click the Apple icon, then move the mouse over the Go menu and click on Connect to Server.  Enter smb://192.168.0.252 into the Server Address field and click the Connect button.  - Click the Share folder.
 - Enter admin for the User Name field and the password in the Password field.  Then click the OK button.
 - The USB drive's content will appear.
Enable Media Sharing

 - Browse and locate the MiniDLNA name or custom name.
 - Double-click MiniDLNA or custom name to access the contents.
Enable USB Access ControlNOTE: The USB Access Control feature is optional and not required.To prevent multiple USB storage devices from being accessible, the USB Access Control feature controls which USB drives are approved. Â When USB Access Control is enabled, only USB storage devices that are added for approval can be accessible in the home network. Â All other USB storage devices will not be accessible when they are connected to the SBG7580-AC. Â Â
