SBG7600AC2: Backup & Restore Custom Configuration

Question
How do I backup and restore the custom configuration in my SBG7600AC2 gateway?
Answer
The custom configuration can be saved and restore at a later time with client device (such as laptop, desktop or Android tablet) connected to the home network.  The custom configuration file is saved to a client device and the backup file can be loaded to the SBG7600AC2 to restore the custom configuration.  It is recommend to save the custom configuration with the default admin password.

Backup the SBG7600AC2 Custom Configuration
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.

    NOTE: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.

     
  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the User Name field.
     
  3. Enter password or a customized password in the Password field.

    NOTE: When using the default password to login, it may be required to set a unique password to proceed to the Web Manager.  For assistance with Web Manager Access, refer to article # 18386 – SBG7600AC2: Web Manager Access.

     
  4. Click the Apply button.  The System Basic Setup window will appear.

  5. On the System Basic Setup page, click the Utilities link on the top menu.  The System Information page will appear.
     
  6. On the System Information page, click the Save/Backup Settings link on the left-hand menu.  The Save/Back Setting page will appear.
     
  7. On the Save/Backup Settings page, click the Save button.  The system pop-up window will appear.

  8. Click the OK button on the system pop-up window.

  9. Click the pull-down menu and select Save as on File Download dialog.  The Save As window will appear.

  10. On the Save As window, select a location to save the backup file.  The Desktop is selected in this example.
     
  11. Leave the file name in the File name field at default.
     
  12. Click the Save button.

Restore Custom Configuration in the SBG7600AC2

  6. On the System Information page, click the Restore Settings link on the left-hand menu.  The Restore Setting page will appear.
     
  7. On the Restore Settings page, click the Browse... button.  The system window will appear.

  8. On the system window, Select the location of the saved backup file.  The Desktop is selected in this example.
     
  9. Select the backup file and click the Open button.

  10. Click the Restore Chosen File button on the Restore Settings page.  The system pop-up window will appear.

  11. Click the OK button to restore the router saved state.  The Restore Settings page will refresh. 

    NOTE: The Internet connection will be interrupted while the SBG7600AC2 is restoring the custom configuration and resume when completed.
