Answer | The SBG8300 operates as Wi-Fi cable modem and provides Internet access to devices (up to 253 devices) in the home network.  Setting the SBG8300 in Bridge mode disables the router and wireless functions and will operate as a cable modem. A device directly connected to the SBG8300 with an Ethernet cable will receive the Public IP address from the Cable Provider for Internet access. Installation of a Wi-Fi router will be required to provide Internet access to multiple devices in the home network. This document contains the following sections:
Enabling Bridge Mode
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The https:// Redirect page will appear. Â
 - The SURFboard Web Manager is begin redirected to a more secure connection, click the Proceed button to continue.  The Gateway > Login page will appear.
 - A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.
NOTE : The Home Network Wizard will appear if this is the first time accessing the Web Manager. For assistance with the wizard, refer to article # 17969 - SBG8300: Web Manager First Time Login.  - Enter admin in the Username field and enter the custom password in the Password field.
NOTE: If the Login page prompts for email address and password. Log into the Web Manager with the email and password used when setting up the SURFboard Manager app with the SBG8300.  - Click the Login button.  The Gateway > Summary page will appear.
 - Click the Bridge Mode: Enable button. The Warning pop-up window will appear. Â
 - Click the OK button on the Warning pop-up window. The SBG8300 will reboot to complete bridge mode setup. Â
NOTE: The SBG8300 Gateway takes approximately 10 minutes to fully operate after reboot. The Online LED is green and the Wi-Fi LED is off when bridge mode is enabled.  - The SBG8300 has now been configured for bridge mode. A device directly connected to the SBG8300 with an Ethernet cable will receive the Public IP address from the Cable Provider for Internet access.
Disabling Bridge Mode
- Connect a device via Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the SBG8300.
 - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The https:// Redirect page will appear. Â
 - The SURFboard Web Manager is begin redirected to a more secure connection, click the Proceed button to continue.  The Login page will appear.
 - A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.
