SBR-AC1200P: Access Control Setup

1. Allow access to everyone, except the clients listed.
2. Deny access to everyone, except the clients listed.

The wireless client's MAC address is used to determine if access is allowed or denied.  For instructions on how to locate the MAC address in Windows and Mac operating systems:

• Refer to Answer # 22248 - Windows 8: Finding the MAC address
• Refer to Answer # 20613 - Windows 7: Finding the MAC address
• Refer to Answer # 20446 - Finding the MAC address in Windows and Macintosh systems
• For all other devices, please refer to the manufacturer to locate the MAC address.

NOTE: Even if a wireless client is allowed by Access Control to connect to the wireless network, it will still need an encryption key to connect (if encryption is enabled for that wireless network). 

Access Control is disabled by default.  This document describes how to configure Access Control.

1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
   
   NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.
   
   
    
2. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
3. Enter password in the Password field.
4. Click the Login button.  The Home page appears.
   
    
    
5. Move the mouse-cursor over the Wireless tab and select the Access Control from the drop-down submenu. The Wireless - Access Control page appears.
6. On the Wireless - Access Control page, select 2.4 Ghz tab. 
     
   NOTE 2: In the example below, the MAC Restrict Mode for the Primary Network has been set to Deny.  As a result, all wireless clients are allowed by Access Control to connect to the network except for one device, which has a MAC address of 00:16:CB:00:59:B6.  This device will be denied access. 
    
7. MAC Restrict Mode - Click the drop-down menu and choose the desired setting.
   • Disabled - Access Control is off.
   • Allow - Allows access to wireless clients added to the MAC Address List and denies access to the wireless clients not on the list.
   • Deny - Denies access to the wireless clients added to the MAC Address List and allows access to the wireless clients not on the list.
      
8. MAC Address List - Enter the MAC addresses of the devices to allow or deny access in the fields.
   
   NOTE: In the example below, the MAC Restrict Mode for the Primary Network has been set to Deny.  As a result, all wireless clients are allowed by Access Control to connect to the network except for one device, which has a MAC address of 00:16:CB:00:59:B6.  This device will be denied access. 
    
9. Click the Apply button.
10. Select 5 Ghz tab and perform steps 7 through 9.
