Answer | Firmware is programming that is written into the device for it to function. Â In some cases there may be a need to update or enhance features in order to keep the product up to date. Â The current firmware in the SBR-AC1200P needs to be verified before performing any firmware upgrade. Â This document contains the following sections:
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.  - On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
- Enter password in the Password field.
- Click the Login button.  The Home page appears.
 - Move the mouse-cursor over the Status tab and select the Product Information sub-link.  The Status - Product Information page appears. Â
- Verify the current firmware version as shown in the green box is up to date. Â Proceed to the Download the Latest Firmware section to confirm the firmware.
NOTE: If the current firmware in the SBR-AC1200PÂ matches the latest one on the site, the unit is up to date.Â

Download the Latest Firmware
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter arris.com/selfhelp into the address box and press the Enter Key.  The Welcome to ARRIS Consumer Support page appears.
- On the Welcome to ARRIS Consumer Support page, place the mouse cursor over SURFboard Cable Modems and Gateways and then click on Go to Models box.
- Move the mouse cursor over the SBR-AC1200P product and then click on Details box.
-  Click on the Drivers and Firmware tab.
NOTE: If the current firmware in the SBR-AC1200P matches the latest one on the site, the unit is up to date.  Proceed to step 5 if the firmware is not up to date.  - Click the Download link.
- Click the OK button on Select "Save" when prompted.Â
- Click the Save button on File Download dialog box.  The Save As window appears.
- Save in - Select "Desktop" in the pull-down menu.
- File name - Leave at default name SBRAC1200P-1.0.1-G02.
- Save as type - Leave at default file type.
- Click the Save button.

 - Move the mouse-cursor over the Status tab and select the Router Upgrade sub-link.  The Status - Router Upgrade page appears.
- On the Status - Router Upgrade page, click the Choose File button.  The Choose File to Upload box appears.Â
 - On the Choose File to Upload box, click on Desktop to select the firmware file SBR-AC1200P-1.0.5.
- Click the Open button.  The Status - Router Upgrade page returns.
 - On the Status - Router Upgrade page, click the Upload button.  The Alert pop-up window appears.
 - On the Alert pop-up window, click the OK button to continue with the firmware upgrade.Â
 - The hour glass symbol appears below.Â
CAUTION: The router may be unresponsive to commands for 3 minutes.  Please do not turn off or reboot the router during this time.  - The router will begin updating the firmware.  Please allow up to few minutes for the router to update the firmware.
WARNING: Do not interrupt or unplug the router, doing so could render the router inoperable.  - On the Alert window, click the OK button to continue the firmware upgrade.
 - Once the router completes the firmware upgrade the Login page appears.
