Answer | The SBR-AC3200P is a wireless router that provides secure high-speed Internet connectivity to the wired or wireless network devices on the home or small business network.  It is compatible with Cable, DSL/U-verse, and FIOS service. Â
To use the SBR-AC3200P as the primary wireless router and firewall, the DSL/U-verse modem device needs to be setup as a pass through device by disabling routing, wireless, and firewall features. Â This will allow the SBR-AC3200P to handle the connection to the Internet. Â Please contact the service provider to determine how to configure the DSL/U-verse modem device as a pass through device. Â In addition the configuration required in SBR-AC3200P for the Internet connection. Â Â Â

CAUTION: To better secure your network, ARRIS recommends to change the default Admin user name & password and the default Wireless password immediately after connecting to the Internet.
Requirements:
- Active Internet for DSL/U-verse service
- DSL/U-verse modem device
- Consult with the service provider to configure the device in bridge mode or passthrough mode, the WAN MAC Address may be need for setup and can be found from the label on the bottom of the unit
- Disable firewall and wireless function on DSL Wi-Fi Router
NOTE: If the DSL/U-verse modem device is not setup as a pass through modem, internet access and functionality of the SBR-AC3200P's firewall, port forwarding, and DMZ features may not function properly.  - Contact the service provider to determine the setup type on the SBR-AC3200P:
- DHCPÂ (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) - The SBR-AC3200PÂ obtains an IP address automatically from the DSL/U-verse provider. Â This is enabled by default.Â
- PPPoE - (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) - The SBR-AC3200P authenticates and connects to the Internet with a username and password.  The PPPoE username and password is provided by the DSL provider.
- Static IPÂ - The SBR-AC3200PÂ uses a permanent IP address to connection to the Internet. Â This includes an IP address, Subnet mask, gateway address, and DNS addresses which are provided by the DSL provider. Â

Verify that the following items were included with the ARRIS SBR-AC3200P wireless router. Â The SBR-AC3200P, power supply and blue Ethernet cable are necessary to perform the installation.

Install the SBR-AC3200P to a DSL/U-verse Modem Device
- Turn off the power on the DSL/U-verse modem device by unplugging the power cord from the electrical wall outlet.
NOTE: If there is a backup battery in the DSL/U-verse modem device, remove it temporarily.  - Disconnect all the existing Ethernet cables connections from the DSL/U-verse modem device.Â
 - Connect one end of the blue Ethernet cable (included) to the Ethernet port on the rear of the DSL/U-verse modem device.
 - Connect the other end of the blue Ethernet cable to the blue WAN port on the rear of the SBR-AC3200P.
 - Power on the DSL/U-verse modem device by plugging the power cord to the electrical wall outlet.Â
NOTE: Install the battery back-up to the DSL/U-verse modem device.   - Power on the SBR-AC3200P.Â
NOTE 1: If the service provider recommends DHCP setup in the SBR-AC3200P, proceed with step 8.  DHCP is enabled by default.  NOTE 2: If the service provider recommends PPPoE setup in the SBR-AC3200P, proceed to the PPPoE setup section. NOTE 3: If the service provider recommends Static IP setup in the SBR-AC3200P, proceed to the Static IP Setup section.  - Allow 30 seconds for the Front Panel Primary LED to become solid green.  ​
NOTE: If the Front Panel Primary LED is flashing green on the the SBR-AC3200P, reboot the DSL/U-verse modem device.  Also verify if the blue Ethernet cable is connected from the DSL/U-verse modem device to the WAN port of the SBR-AC3200P. Â

- Connect a Ethernet cable from a laptop or desktop to one of four white Ethernet ports on the rear of the SBR-AC3200P. Â For wireless devices, establish to open wireless network list and connect to SURFboard-XXXX (see SSID number listed on the router label).Â
 - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter www.surfboard.com into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The ARRIS website should open.

NOTE: The PPPoE username and password can be obtained from the DSL service provider.Â
- Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.  - On the Login page, enter admin in the username field.
 - Enter password in the Password field.
 - Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.
 - Move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the main menu and select the Setup link on the sub-menu.  The Basic - Setup page will appear.
 - Under the Wide Area Network (WAN) Connection Settings section, click the WAN Connection Type drop-down menu and select PPPoE.
 - Enter the DSL PPPoE username in the PPP User Name field. Â
 - Enter the DSL PPPoE password in the PPP Password field.
 - Click the Apply button.  The Progress page will appear.
 - After the Progress completes, the pop-up box will appear.  Click OK to reconnect.​
NOTE: If the Front Panel Primary LED is flashing green on the the SBR-AC3200P, reboot the DSL/U-verse modem device.  Also verify if the blue Ethernet cable is connected from the DSL/U-verse modem device to the WAN port of the SBR-AC3200P.  - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter www.surfboard.com into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The ARRIS website should open.

 - Enter the WAN static IP address into the IP address field.
 - Enter the subnet mask into the Subnet Mask field.
 - Enter the WAN gateway address into the Default Gateway field. Â
NOTE:The DNS addresses are provided by the service provider.  - Enter the Primary DNS addresses into the Primary DNS field.
 - Enter the Secondary DNS addresses into the Secondary DNS field.
 - Click the Apply button.  The Progress page will appear.
 - After the Progress completes, the pop-up box will appear.  Click OK to reconnect.
NOTE: If the Front Panel Primary LED is flashing green on the the SBR-AC3200P, reboot the DSL/U-verse modem device.  Also verify if the blue Ethernet cable is connected from the DSL/U-verse modem device to the WAN port of the SBR-AC3200P.  - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter www.surfboard.com into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The ARRIS website should open.Â

NOTE:Â DHCP is enabled by default. Â The DHCP setup can be used instead of factory defaulting the SBR-AC3200P.
