The SBX-AC1200P Access Control feature provides the ability to restrict Wi-Fi clients, such as smart phones and laptops, from accessing the wireless network. Â The MAC address of the Wi-Fi client is added to the Access Control MAC Address List to allow or restrict access to the wireless network.
NOTE: Even if a client is allowed by Access Control to connect to the wireless network, it will still need an encryption key to connect (if encryption is enabled for that wireless network).Â
This document describes how to gather the client MAC address and setup Access Control feature in the SBX-AC1200P.
Requirement
The Wi-Fi client's MAC Address is require for Access Control setup. Â It can be found in the SBX-AC1200P Web Manager or from the client device's network information.

To Configure Access Control
NOTE: Steps 2 - 12 (static IP address setup) are applicable on Windows 10, 8 & 7. Â
- Connect a computer with the Ethernet cable or to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network.  The default wireless name and password are located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.
NOTE: If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, client devices can only connect to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network because the Ethernet port is used for connecting a modem device.  Connect the Wi-Fi client to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network and click here to skip to step 13.
   - Click the Window's Start button and type Network and Sharing Center in the Search box.
 - Click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.  The Network and Sharing Center window will appear. Â
 - On the Network and Sharing Center window, click the Change adapter settings link.  The Network Connections window will appear.

 - On the Network Connections window, right-click on Local Area Connection then select Properties.  The Local Area Connection Properties window will appear. Â
NOTE: If the computer is connected wirelessly, right click on Wireless Network Connection then select Properties for Wireless Network Connection Properties window.
 - On the Local Area Connection Properties window, select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click the Properties button.  Make sure the box to the left is checked.  The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window will appear.
 - In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, capture the current IP and DNS addresses under the General tab for reference.  These settings will need to be restored after making changes in the SBX-AC1200P Web Manager.
 - Select Use the Following IP address.
 - Enter 192.168.100.253 in the IP Address field.Â
 - Enter 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet Mask field.
 - Click the OK button. Â
 - Click the Close button on the bottom of the Local Area Connection Properties window.
 - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.100.254 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
NOTE: If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address box. Â
 - On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
 - Enter password in the Password field.
 - Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.
 - Move the mouse-cursor over Wireless on the top menu and click the Access Control link on the sub-menu.  The Wireless - Access Control page will appear.
 - On the Wireless - Access Control page, verify if there is any device listed.  Copy the desired MAC address of the device to add for Restriction Mode.Â
NOTE: The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Networks is the default band that appears on the Wireless - Access Control page.Â
 - Click the MAC Address Restrict drop-down menu and choose the desired setting (Disabled, Allow, or Deny).
- ​​Allow - Denies access to all wireless clients except those clients listed in the MAC Addresses fields.
- Deny - Allows access to all wireless clients except those listed in the MAC Addresses fields.
- Disabled - Access Control feature is disabled and allow all Wi-Fi clients. Â
- Enter the MAC addresses of the devices to allow or deny access in the MAC Address List fields.
 - Click the Apply button.
 - To add a Restriction Mode for devices on the 5 GHz band click the 5 GHz tab and repeat steps 18 - 21.
NOTE: In the example below, the MAC Restrict Mode for the 5 GHz Primary Network has been set to Deny.  As a result, all wireless clients are allowed by Access Control to connect to the network except for one device, which has a MAC address of 6C:40:08:9E:5E:9A.  This device will be denied access.Â
