Question
How do I customized the Guest Wi-Fi network?
Answer
NOTE: This article applies to the SURFboard Wi-Fi Cable Modems (G34, G36, G54, SBG8300).

The Guest Wi-Fi network is a separate network that guest's devices connect to for Internet access.  The Gateway can be configured to broadcast guest Wi-Fi networks over the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz (for supported device) radio bands.  The use of a separate Guest Wi-Fi network enhances network security while preventing communication to the main Wi-Fi network and Ethernet-connected client devices.

The default Guest Wi-Fi network name (SSID) includes the word Guest (i.e. G34Guest-D635-5G).  The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password can be customized.  This document contains the following sections:

NOTE: By default, the radio band tabs are unavailable on the G54 because the G54 broadcasts one Wi-Fi network name (SSID) simultaneously over the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz (High), 5 GHz (Low), and 6 GHz radio bands.
