Question
How do I setup the Guest Wi-Fi network?
Answer
NOTE: This article applies to the SURFboard Wi-Fi Cable Modems (SBG10, SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, SBG7580-AC, SBG7600AC2).

The Guest Wi-Fi network is a separate network that guests devices connect to for Internet access.  The SURFboard Gateway broadcasts two different guest Wi-Fi networks independently over the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands.  The use of a separate Guest Wi-Fi network enhances network security, while preventing communication to the main Wi-Fi network and Ethernet connected client devices.

The Guest Wi-Fi network can only be enabled and disabled in the Web Manager.  When the Guest Wi-Fi network is enabled, the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is the same as the main Wi-Fi network followed by a -Guest suffix.  The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password can be customized in the SURFboard Central app after it is enabled in the Web Manager.  The Guest Wi-Fi network is disabled by default and limited to 32 connected devices.  This document contains the following sections:

Alert Message
When the Enable/Disable Guest Wi-Fi Network slider is swiped right/left in the SURFboard Central app, the Alert message indicates to "Enable Guest network using the Web GUI".
