Answer | NOTE: This article applies to the SURFboard Wi-Fi Cable Modems (G18, G20, G34, G36, G54). In certain cases, it is best for a client to receive a particular IP address from the Gateway and always keep that address without having to manually configure it in the client. This can be accomplished by reserving an IP Address to a client's MAC address. When the client disconnects and reconnects to the Gateway, it will receive the IP address that it has been assigned.
It is recommended to setup a LAN IP Reservation for clients that are configured to use Port Forwarding.  This document contains the following sections:
LAN IP Reservation Setup
- Tap the My Network icon on the bottom of the screen.
 - Tap the Network Management box.
 - Tap the Network Settings + button to expand the card, then tap the LAN Settings link.
 - Tap the LAN IP Reservation link.
 - Tap the Add Reservation button.
 - On the Reserve A LAN IP pop-up box, enter the name of the device for the Enter Rule Name field.
 - Enter a number between 2 - 253 into Enter IP Address field.
NOTE: By default, the Gateway assigns IP addresses from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.253. To avoid IP address conflict, enter the IP address between 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.253 or the same IP address of the client device currently assigned by the Gateway. The client’s IP address can be found in the client device or in the Gateway’s Connected Devices list. Â
 - Tap the box for Select your device to expand the list and tap the device to be used for LAN IP Reservation.
 - Tap the Save Changes button.
 - The LAN IP Reservation configuration will appear as shown. Â
NOTE: To edit the LAN IP Reservation configuration tap the Pencil icon.
 - Disconnect and reconnect the client from the network to obtain the reserved IP address.

  Remove LAN IP Reservation Configuration
- In the LAN IP Reservation screen, swipe left on a LAN IP Reservation configuration from the list and tap the Delete icon.
 - On the Alert pop-up box, tap the OK button.
 - The LAN IP Reservation configuration has been deleted.
