Answer | When launched, the ARRIS SURFboard Manager App will prompt for the admin username and password of the supported SURFboard Wi-Fi product. The default username is “admin” and the password is “password” on the SURFboard Wi-Fi product. Changes made in the SURFboard Manger App will automatically be pushed to the SURFboard Wi-Fi product. This document describes how to change the default admin username and password from the ARRIS SURFboard Manager.
NOTE: For network security purposes, ARRIS recommends to change the default admin username and password after logging on for the first time.
Change The Default Admin Username and Password
- Tap the SURFboard icon. The Login screen will appear.
- On the Login screen, enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.
NOTE: If the default login credentials were previously changed please enter custom credentials. If the customized login credentials are forgotten a factory reset must be performed by pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds on the SURFboard Wi-Fi product. This will reset all customized settings. - Tap the Login button. The ARRIS home screen will appear.
- Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner. The sliding menu will appear.
- Tap the Settings link. The Settings screen will appear.
- Tap the Change Credentials button. The Management Credential screen will appear.
NOTE: The SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, and SBG7580-AC will display the Change Password button instead and does not have the option to change the Username. - Enter a new admin username in the Username field.
- Re-enter the new admin username in the Re-enter Username field.
- Tap the Save button. The SURFboard prompt will appear.
- On the SURFboard prompt, tap the OK button. The username change takes effect immediately. The Setting screen will appear.
- Tap the Change Credentials button. The Management Credentials screen will appear.
NOTE: The SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, and SBG7580-AC will display the Change Password button instead and does not have the option to change the Username. Click here to proceed to change the password. - Tap the Select Type drop-down menu and select Change Password.
NOTE: The SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, and SBG7580-AC screen is called Management Password and does not have the Select Type option. - Enter the new password in the Management Password field.
- Re-enter the new password in the Re-enter Management field.
- Tap the Save button. The SURFboard prompt will appear.
- At the SURFboard prompt, tap the OK button. The password change will take effect immediately.
