Question

How do I change the Wi-Fi channel for my SURFboard Wi-Fi product using the SURFboard Management App?

Answer

When using a wireless connection, interference may occur. One variable may include other Wireless Access Points within the surrounding area using the same wireless channel. In order to mitigate wireless interference, change the Wi-Fi band channel of the SURFboard Wi-Fi product. The Wi-Fi channel can be changed using teh SURFboard Management App on compatible SURFboard products. This document describes how to change the Wi-Fi channel using the SURFboard Management App.

Changing The Wi-Fi Channel

Tap the ARRIS SURFboard Manager icon. The Login screen will appear.
On the Login screen, enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.

NOTE: If the default login credentials were previously changed please enter custom credentials. If you forgot your customized login credentials you must perform a factory reset by pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds on the SURFboard product. This will reset all customized settings.
Tap the Login button. The ARRIS home screen will appear.
On the SURFboard home screen, tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner. The sliding menu will appear.
On the sliding menu, tap on WI-Fi SETTINGS. The Wi-Fi Settings screen will appear.
On the Wi-Fi Settings screen, scroll down to the Advanced Settings section and tap Edit on the band to change. The Edit Wi-Fi Radio screen will appear.

NOTE: The 2.4 GHz band is selected for illustration purposes.
On the Edit Wi-Fi Radio screen, tap on the drop-down for Channel, then select the new channel. Tap on Done.
Tap on Save. The SURFboard prompt will appear.
On the SURFboard prompt tap on OK. The channel change will take effect immediately.
