Question
How do I create a rule to block all Internet access for a device using the SURFboard Manager app?
Answer
The SURFboard Parental Control feature provides the ability to create a rule to block specific client devices (e.g. computer, gaming console, tablet) from Internet access.  The rule created in the SURFboard Manager App will automatically be pushed to the SURFboard product.  By default, the Parental Controls feature is disabled in the SURFboard products.  This document describes how to use the ARRIS SURFboard Manager app to block one device from accessing all Internet at a specific time of day, and how to remove that restriction.

Requirements:
  • This SURFboard Manager App can be used to configure Parental Controls for the following SURFboard products:
    • SBR-AC1900P, RipCurrent Router
    • SBR-AC3200P, RipCurrent Router
    • SBR-AC1200P, RipCurrent Router
    • SBX-AC1200P, operates as a wireless extender out of the box and the SURFboard Manager App will connect when it is in Primary Router Mode.

NOTE:  When using the SURFboard Manager app to configure the SBG6950AC2, SBG7400AC2, and or SBG7580-AC,  Parental Controls are configured using the McAfee® Secure Home Internet (SHI) app.  The Parental icon is replaced by the McAfee®
SHI icon, and tapping the icon will open the McAfee® SHI app.
