Question
How do I secure the home network using Home Network Wizard? 
Answer
The Home Network Wizard is used for customizing the admin login password and Wi-Fi credentials in the SVG2482AC Web Manager.  This document describes how to change the admin login password and Wi-Fi name and password key using the Home Network Wizard in the SVG2482AC.


Home Network Wizard
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://10.0.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
     
  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
     
  3. Enter password in the Password field then click the Login button.  The Gateway > At a Glance page will appear.

    NOTE: A prompt to change the password appears when the SVG2482AC is using the default password.  To change the password click the OK button or click the Cancel button to bypass it.

  4. On the Left-hand menu, click the Wizard link.  The Gateway > Home Network Wizard - Step 1 page will appear.

  5. On the Gateway > Home Network Wizard - Step 1 page, enter the current password into the Current Password field.
     
  6. Enter a new password into the New Password field.
     
  7. Re-enter the new password in the Re-enter New Password field.

    NOTE: If the Admin password is lost or forgotten the only option is to perform a factory reset.  Performing a Factory Reset will erase any configuration changes that have been made and requires the gateway to be reconfigured for Internet access.
     
  8. Click the Next Step button.  The Gateway > Home Network Wizard Step 2 page will appear.

  9. On the Gateway > Home Network Wizard - Step 2 page, enter a new wireless network name in the Wi-Fi Network Name (2.4GHz) and Wi-Fi Network Name (5 GHz) fields.

    NOTE: The wireless network name can be the same for both Wi-Fi Network Name (2.4GHz) and Wi-Fi Network (5 GHz) fields.
     
  10. Leave the Encryption Method (2.4GHz) and Encryption Method (5 GHz) fields at default WPAWPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) (Recommended). 
     
  11. Enter the a new wireless password in the Network Password (2.4GHz) and Network Password (5 GHz) fields.

    NOTE: The wireless password can be the same for both Network Password (2.4GHz) and Network Password (5 GHz) fields.
     
  12. Click the Finish button.  The setting will take effect immediately.

  13. Connect the client device to the new Wi-Fi Network Name and Network Password.
