TG862G/CT & TG862R: Locating the HFC MAC Address

Where can I find my HFC MAC address on my TG862?

When subscribing to Internet services from a cable provider, it may be required to provide the cable provider with the MAC address of the TG862 in order to have Internet access.  The MAC address of the TG862 is located on the back panel, and also located within the GUI (Graphical User Interface) of the TG862.  This document describes how to locate the MAC address of the TG862.

To locate the MAC Address on the Back Panel

The MAC address is printed on the bar code label marked CM MAC on the back panel of the TG862.

To locate the MAC Address within the GUI

1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://10.0.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
   
   NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 10.0.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.
    
2. On the Login page:
   a.   Enter admin in the Username field.
   b.   Enter password in the Password field.
   c.   Click the Login button.  The Gateway > At a Glance page appears.
   
    
    
3. On the left-hand menu, click on Connection.  A sub-menu appears.
4. On the sub-menu, click on Xfinity Network.  The Gateway > Connection > Xfinity Network page appears.
5. On the Gateway > Connection > Xfinity Network  page, the MAC address of the TG862 is listed as the CM MAC.
