The TG862 provides the ability to restrict or grant outbound access to specific Internet services, such as HTTP and HTTPS. These services can be restricted for certain times of the day, certain days of the week, or for all times. They can also be restricted for some or all devices (e.g. computer, gaming console, tablet) on the network.  This can be accomplished by using the Parental Control feature.Â
By default, Parental Control is enabled but allows access to Internet websites to all of the devices at all times. This document describes how to restrict the network from accessing a specific service on the Internet.Â

Creating a Service Restriction Entry

Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://10.0.0.1 into the address box.
NOTE: By default, the LAN IP address is 10.0.0.1. If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.
- Enter admin in the Username field
- Enter password in the Password field.
- Click the Login button. The Gateway > At a Glance page appears.
 - On the left-hand menu, click on Parental Control.  A sub-menu appears.
- In the sub-menu, click on Managed Services. Â The Parental Control >Â Managed Services page appears.
- On the Parental Control > Managed Services entry page:
a. Â Enable Managed Devices -Â Click the Enabled button.Â
b. Â In the Blocked Services section, click the +ADD button. Â The Parental Control >Â Managed Services >Â Add Blocked Service page appears.
 - On the Parental Control > Managed Services > Add Blocked Service page:
a. Â Â User Defined Service -Â Enter the desired description for this entry.
b. Â Â Protocol - Click the drop-down menu, and select TCP/UDP.
c.   Start Port - Enter the port number that is associated with the service to restrict.
d. Â Â End Port -Â Â Enter the port number again.
   NOTE:  If it is desired to block a range of ports, then enter the first port of the range for Start Port, and the last port of the range for End Port.
e.   Always Block? -  Click the Yes button to restrict access for all times, or No to restrict access for a specific time duration.  If Yes is selected, skip down to step 8h.  Â
 f.   For Set Block Time:
    i.  Start From - Select the beginning of the time duration to restrict.
    ii.  End on - Select the end of the time duration to restrict.
g.   Set Blocked Days - Click on the Select All link to choose all 7 days of the week, or click on the checkbox of each desired day to block.
h.    Click the Save button.  The Parental Control > Managed Services page appears.
 - In the Trusted Computers section of the Parental Control > Managed Services page, select any devices that the Blocked Services rules will not apply to, by clicking the Yes button next to the corresponding device.
NOTE:  By default, Blocked Services will apply to all devices, as all devices are set to No for Trusted.

- In the sub-menu, click on Managed Services.  The Parental Control > Managed Services page appears.
- In the Blocked Services section of The Parental Control > Managed Services page, click the X button for any service that is desired to be removed.
NOTE:Â A reboot is not required for the settings to take effect.
