Port Forwarding allows the option to run a publicly accessible server on the LAN by specifying the mapping of TCP / UDP ports to a local device. This enables incoming requests on specific port numbers to reach devices such as Web Servers, Mail Servers, and Digital Video Recorders (DVR). This document describes how to create a port forwarding entry.
NOTE 1: It is recommended to manually configure the TCP / IP settings on the server that will be remotely accessible. If this is done, then it is mandatory to configure the following settings:

IP address
-
Subnet mask
-
Default gateway
-
At least one DNS address
If the following settings are configured without the default gateway, remote access to the server will not be available, as it will only be accessible from the local network.
NOTE 2:Â When manually configuring the TCP / IP settings on a device, make sure that the DHCP pool in the TG862 doesn't include the IP address of the server.Â
Creating Port Forwarding Entry

Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The Login page appears.
NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1. If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.

On the Login page:
a.  Enter admin in the Username field.
b.  Enter password in the Password field.
c.   Click the Login button.  The System Basic Setup page appears.

On the top menu, click on the Firewall tab. The Firewall Settings page appears.Â

On the left-hand menu, click on Virtual Servers. Â The Virtual Servers Configuration page appears.

On the Virtual Servers Configuration page, click the Add button.  The Add Virtual Service window appears.

On the Add Virtual Service window:
a.   Description - Enter the desired name for this service.
b.   Inbound Port - Enter the desired port number into both fields.
   NOTE:  If it is desired to forward a range of ports, enter the first number of the range into the first field, and the last number of the range into the second field.
c.  Format - Click the drop-down menu, and select the desired protocol (TCP, UDP, or TCP/UDP).
   NOTE:  If it is not known which protocol to use, then select TCP/UDP.
d.   Private IP Address - Enter the IP address of the device. Â
e.  Local Port - Enter the same port numbers that were entered for Inbound Port.
 f.  Click the Add Virtual Server button. Â
   NOTE: A reboot of the unit is not required for changes to take effect.
