After installing USB (Universal Serial Bus) drivers and using the USB functionality of the selected cable modems, it may desired to uninstall these drivers. Reason to uninstall the USB drivers may include the discontinued use of the cable modem.
NOTE: USB drivers are only supported on Windows operating systems. USB drivers are not available for Macintosh operating systems.

Uninstalling the USB Driver from Windows 98/Me

On the Windows Desktop, right-click the Network Neighborhood icon for Windows 98 or My Network Places for Windows Me and then select Properties. The Network window appears.
 -
On the Network window:
a.  Click the Motorola SURFboard USB Cable Modem.
NOTE: Although the SURFboard cable modem model number may be different than in the images in this guide, the procedure is the same.
b.  Click Remove button. The Network window no longer displays Motorola SURFboard USB Cable Modem in the list.
c.  Click the OK button. The System Settings Change window is displayed.
d.  Disconnect the USB cable from the PC or cable modem.
e.  Click the Yes button to restart the computer.

Uninstalling the USB Driver from Windows 2000

On the Windows desktop, click the Start button and then click Settings link.

Click the Control Panel link to display the Control Panel window.

On the Control Panel window, double-click the System icon. The System Properties window appears.

On the System Property window:
a.  Click the Hardware tab.
b.  Click the Device Manager button. The Device Manager window appears.

On the Device Manager window:
a.  Double-click Network Adapters.
b.  Click the Motorola SURFboard USB Cable Modem.  The Uninstall icon is displayed on the window near the top.
NOTE: Although the SURFboard cable modem model number may be different than in the images in this guide, the procedure is the same.
c.  Click the Uninstall icon.
d.  Close the Device Manager window.
e.  Close the Control Panel window. -

On the Windows desktop, click the Start button and click the Control Panel link. The Control Panel window appears.

On the Control Panel window, double-click the System icon. The System Properties window appears.

On the System Properties window, click the Device Manager button. The Device Manager appears.

On the Device Manager window:
a.  Double-click the Network adapters link.
b.  Click the Motorola SURFboard USB Cable Modem link. The Uninstall icon is displayed on the window near the top.

c.  Click the Uninstall icon.
d.  Close the Device Manager window.
e.  Close the Control Panel window. -

Running the Motorola USB Driver Removal Utility

Insert the SURFboard Cable Modem CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. After a short time, a window with language choices is displayed.

Press the Esc key on the keyboard to exit the start-up screens.

To start Windows Explorer, click Start and select Run. In the Run window, type explorer and click OK.

Double-click My Computer and double-click the Motorola CD icon (D: in the image).

Double-click remove or remove.exe to run the Remove utility from the SURFboard Cable Modem CD-ROM. The SURFboard Cable Modem USB Driver Removal window appears.
 -
Click the Remove Driver button. A progress bar indicates that the driver is being removed:
NOTE: Be sure the USB cable is disconnected.
 -
The following window displays when the USB driver has been successfully removed. Click Exit to exit the Motorola USB Driver Removal Utility.
