Question
How do I setup the Wi-Fi network on the W6B extenders?
Answer
The Wi-Fi network is disabled by default and can be enabled on the Main AP and Satellite.  The Wi-Fi network is broadcast over the 6GHz band.  Only Wi-Fi 6E capable devices can connect to a 6GHz Wi-Fi network.   For a list of supported Wi-Fi 6E client devices, refer to article # 19241 - Wi-Fi 6E Support Client Devices. 

This document contains the following sections:
The instruction steps must be performed on a laptop or mobile device that is connected to the home network.


Enable Wi-Fi Network on the Main AP
It is recommended to place the Main AP at least 12 inches away from the home router when the Wi-Fi is enabled to avoid interface on the 5GHz Wi-Fi network. 
  1. Launch a web browser and enter https://w6b.local/ into the address box, and press the Enter key.
     
  2. A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager.  There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager.  For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.

    NOTE: The Setup Administration page will appear if this is the first time accessing the Web Manager.  For assistance, refer to article # 19244 - W6B: Web Manager First Time Login.

     
  3. Enter the custom username in the Username field and the custom password into the Password field.
     
  4. Click the Login button.  The Network Status page will appear.

  5. Click the Current Device drop-down menu and select Main AP.
     
  6. Click the Wireless Settings link in the left-hand menu.
     
  7. Click the SSID Status drop-down menu and select Enabled.
     
  8. Enter a new wireless network name in the SSID Name field.  The name needs to be 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters long.
     
  9. Enter a new wireless password in the Password field.  The password needs to be 8 to 63 characters long.
     
  10. Leave the Sync to Satellite box checked by default for changes made to the Main Access Point Wi-Fi is applied to the Satellite Wi-Fi network.
     
  11. Click the Submit button to apply the changes.

Enabling Wi-Fi Network on Satellite
  1. Click the Current Device drop-down menu and select Main AP.
     
  2. Click the Wireless Settings link in the left-hand menu.

    NOTE: To only enable the Wi-Fi network on the Satellite skip steps 3 - 5.
     
  3. Click the SSID Status drop-down menu and select Enabled.
     
  4. Enter a new wireless network name in the SSID Name field.  The name needs to be 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters long.
     
  5. Enter a new wireless password in the Password field.  The password needs to be 8 to 63 characters long.
     
  6. Uncheck the Sync to Satellite box to make changes made on the Main AP are not sync to the Satellite.
     
  7. Click the Submit button to apply the changes.

  9. Click the SSID Status drop-down menu and select Enabled.
     
  10. Enter a new wireless network name in the SSID Name field.  The name needs to be 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters long.
     
  11. Enter a new wireless password in the Password field.  The password needs to be 8 to 63 characters long.
     
  12. Click the Submit button to apply the changes.
