Question
How do I troubleshoot intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity on my W6U?
Answer
Intermittent connectivity is when the Internet connection is disconnected at random intervals.  When this issue occurs on the Wi-Fi devices use the provided troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshoot Intermittent Wi-Fi Connection
  1. Determine if the issue is present on multiple Wi-Fi devices connected to the Wi-Fi router.  If one Wi-Fi device is experiencing, and other Wi-Fi devices do not experience connectivity issues, then the problems may lie with the one device.  In this case, contact the device manufacturer for support on troubleshooting.
  2. Move the Wi-Fi 6E capable device closer to the W6U and try accessing the Internet in the same room.
  3. Power cycle the W6U extender.  Turn off the power on the W6U for two minutes, and then power up the W6U to connect to the Internet.
  4. Change the wireless channel of the W6U to channel (37, 53, 69, 85, 133, 149).  Wireless signal broadcasts on a limited number of Wi-Fi radio channels.  If other Wi-Fi sources such as neighboring wireless access points are using the same wireless channel, this may cause intermittent connectivity issues, even if the competing signal is relatively weak.  Changing the wireless channel within the W6U can improve connectivity.  To change the wireless channel, please refer to article # 19257 - W6U: Changing the Wi-Fi Channel.
  5. Disable the WPS feature in the W6U Web Manager.  To disable WPS, please refer to article # 19261 - W6U: WPS Wi-Fi Connection.
  6. Factory reset the W6U.  Factory resetting the W6U will reset any custom configurations to factory defaults, and should only be performed after all other troubleshooting steps have failed to resolved the issue.  To factory reset the W6U, locate the reset button on the back panel.  Carefully insert the tip of a pen or an unwound paperclip into the reset switch hole, then press and hold the switch for at least 20 seconds.
