Question

How can I locate the MAC address on a Windows 7 computer?

Answer

There may be situations in which the MAC address of a specific device needs to be located.  This document will show how to locate the MAC address for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.  For all other devices, please refer to the manufacturer.

  1. Click the Start (Windows logo) button on the bottom left side of the screen.
  2. Click on Control Panel.

  3. Click on Network and Internet.

  4. Click on Network and Sharing Center.

  5. Underneath the View your active networks section, find the network that includes Local Area Connection (as shown below).

  6. Click on Local Area Connection.
  7. Click the Details button.

  8. In the Network Connection Details window, the MAC address is displayed as the Physical Address (as shown below).
