Question

How can I locate the MAC address on a Windows 8 computer?

Answer

There may be situations in which the MAC address of a specific device needs to be located.  This document will show how to locate the MAC address for the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system.  For all other devices, please refer to the manufacturer.

  1. Press the Windows key on the keyboard to go into Desktop mode.
  2. Move the mouse's cursor to the lower right corner of the screen.  A right pane will now appear.

  3. Click the Settings icon.  The Settings pane will now appear.

  4. On the Settings pane, click the Control Panel link.  The Control Panel window will now appear.

  5. On the Control Panel window, click the Network and Internet link.  The Network and Internet window will now appear.

  6. On the Network and Internet window, click the Network and Sharing Center link.  The Network and Sharing Center window will now appear.

  7. On the Network and Sharing Center window, click the Local Area Connection link.  The Local Area Connection Status window will now appear.

  8. On the Local Area Connection Status window, click the Details... button.  The Network Connections Detail window will now appear.

  9. On the Network Connection Details window, the MAC address is displayed as the Physical Address (as shown below).
