Domain Name Server (DNS) is a database that contains domain host names (e.g http://www.SURFboard.com) that are linked to a specific IP address.  When accessing a website by domain name like www.SURFboard.com, the DNS retrieves the IP address to access the website. DNS makes it possible to access websites by domain names.Â
The DNS settings can be customized when using public DNS or installing private DNS in a home network.  This document contains the following sections to set up custom DNS addresses using the SURFboard Central app.Â
