Answer | NOTE: This article applies to the mAX WC4S, WC4T, W21, W121, W122 Express, W30, W130, W31, W133, W61, and the W161 Routers.
When onboard the mAX satellite unit cannot move past the “Checking the Satellite Placement” screen, perform troubleshooting by following the below Recovery Steps in sequential order.
- Recovery Step 1
- Remove DHCP devices (managed switches, DHCP servers, and Web Server) from the network.
- Move the satellite closer to the main AP. Recommended distance between the main AP and the satellite shouldn’t exceed 30ft and the satellite needs to be placed away from any interfering objects.
- Retry onboarding.
- Recovery Step 2
- Disconnect wired devices from the main and satellite units (eg: - switches, desktops, gaming consoles, etc.).
- Hard close the app and launch it again.
- Disconnect wireless clients from the mAX network by changing the Wi-Fi credentials to something new (that has never been used before), DO NOT use special characters (such as $, !, ?, &, #, @, and others).
- Perform a factory reset of the satellite. Refer to article 17967 - mAX Routers: Factory Reset.
- Re-onboard the satellite.
NOTE: After the satellite is successfully onboarded, change the Wi-Fi SSID and password back for Wi-Fi clients to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
- Recovery Step 3
- Confirm all clients (wired and Wi-Fi) are disconnected from mAX device(s).
- Perform a factory reset of the main AP.
- Uninstall and reinstall the mobile application.
- Re-onboard the main AP and then the satellite.
