Question

Where is the Wi-Fi name and password located on my SBG8300 Gateway?

Answer

The SBG8300 default Wi-Fi credentials, wireless name and password, are listed on the bottom label of the device. The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is unique and identifies the wireless network. The Wi-Fi password (also known as the wireless security key, encryption key or passphrase) is the same on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network. The Wi-Fi clients (such as smart phones and laptops) will connect to the respective SSID of each Wi-Fi network using the wireless password. The default Wi-Fi name and password, can be found in the Web Manager or on the label located on the bottom of the device. The custom Wi-Fi name and password can be retrieved by logging into the Web Manager of the SBG8300.

Retrieve the Default Wi-Fi Name and Password on the Label

Turn the SBG8300 over with the bottom facing up to view the label.
Locate the Wi-Fi name next to 2.4GHz and 5GHz and the Wi-Fi password under Wi-Fi Security Key.

Retrieve the Wi-Fi Name and Password in the Web Manager

Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The https:// Redirect page will appear.
The SURFboard Web Manager is begin redirected to a more secure connection, click the Proceed button to continue. The Gateway > Login page will appear.
A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager. For instructions to by-pass the alert screen, refer to article # 18181 - Alert Message for Web Manager Access.

NOTE: The Home Network Wizard will appear if this is the first time accessing the Web Manager. For assistance with the wizard, refer to article # 17969 - SBG8300: Web Manager First Time Login.
Enter admin in the Username field and enter the custom password in the Password field.

NOTE: If the Login page prompts for email address and password. Log into the Web Manager with the email and password used when setting up the SURFboard Manager app with the SBG8300.
Click the Login button. The Gateway > Summary page will appear.
Under the Home section, click the Show button for the 2.4 GHz SSID or 5GHz SSID to display the Password.
