Answer | The Backup and Restore feature in the SBX-AC1200P allows users to save and restore the configuration settings locally on a computer. This document contains the following sections:
Backup Configuration in the SBX-AC1200P
NOTE: Steps 2 - 12 (static IP address setup) are applicable on Windows 10, 8, & 7.
- Connect a computer with the Ethernet cable or to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network. The default wireless name and password are located on the back panel of the SBX-AC1200P.
NOTE: If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, client devices can only connect to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network because the Ethernet port is used for connecting a modem device. Connect the Wi-Fi client to the SBX-AC1200P default wireless network and click here to skip to step 13. - Click the Window's Start button and type Network and Sharing Center in the Search box.
- Click on the Network and Sharing Center icon. The Network and Sharing Center window will appear.
 - On the Network and Sharing Center window, click the Change adapter settings link. The Network Connections window will appear.
- On the Network Connections window, right-click on Local Area Connection then select Properties. The Local Area Connection Properties window will appear.
NOTE: If the computer is connected wirelessly, right click on Wireless Network Connection then select Properties for Wireless Network Connection Properties window.  - On the Local Area Connection Properties window, select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click the Properties button. Make sure the box to the left is checked. The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window will appear.
 - In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window, capture the current IP and DNS addresses under the General tab for reference. These settings will need to be restored after making changes in the SBX-AC1200P Web Manager.
 - Select Use the Following IP address.
- Enter 192.168.100.253 in the IP Address field.
- Enter 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet Mask field.
- Click the OK button.
 - Click the Close button on the bottom of the Local Area Connection Properties window.
 - Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.100.254 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The Login page will appear.
NOTE: If the SBX-AC1200P is operating as a wireless router, enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address box. - On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
- Enter password in the Password field.
- Click the Login button. The Home page will appear.
 - Move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the main menu and click the Backup and Restore link on the sub-menu. The Basic - Backup and Restore page will appear.
- Click the Backup button on the Basic - Backup and Restore page. The system pop-up window will appear.
 - Click the OK button on the system pop-up window.
 - Click the pull-down menu and select Save as on File Download dialog. The Save As window will appear.
 - On the Save As window, select a location to save the backup file. The Downloads folder is selected in this example.
- Enter a name of the backup file in the File name field.
- Click the Save button.

Restore Backup Configuration in the SBX-AC1200P
- On the Home page, move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the top menu and click the Backup and Restore link on the sub-menu. The Basic - Backup and Restore page will appear.
 - On the Basic - Backup and Restore Settings page, click the Browse... button. The system window will appear.
 - On the system window, Select a location of the saved backup file. The Downloads folder is selected in this example.
- Select the backup file and click the Open button.
 - Click the Restore button on the Basic - Backup and Restore page. The system pop-up window will appear.
 - Click the OK button to reboot the router on the system pop-up window. The Device rebooting page will appear.
 - The backup settings are restored when the progress reaches 100%.
 - After the Progress completes, the pop-up box will appear. Click the OK button to reconnect.
