Question
How do I use the two Ethernet ports on the back panel of my T25 Cable Modem?
Answer
The T25 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem is equipped with two 1-Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) ports on the back panel. Each Ethernet ports transmit data up to 1 Gigabit per second.  For a typical setup, connect one device (computer or Wi-Fi router) to an Ethernet port on the back of the T25 cable modem for Internet access.Â
Connect Multiple Client Devices The T25 is a cable modem and allows one client device for Internet access. To provide Internet access to multiple client devices in the home network, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the T25 cable modem or replace the T25 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like G34, G36, or SBG8300.
Add Advanced Features The T25 is a cable modem and does not include advanced features such as Wi-Fi, parental controls, port forwarding, and router functions. For advanced features, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the T25 cable modem or replace the T25 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like G34, G36, or SBG8300.Â
Utilize Both Ethernet Ports The 2nd Ethernet port can be used for adding additional IP address for Internet service. Â The 2nd IP address must be subscribed from the cable provider; not all cable providers offer additional IP address for residential service.Â
