How do I setup the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?

Answer

The SBG6580 broadcasts one default wireless network that is switchable between the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio bands using the same Wi-Fi password. By default the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is enabled. The 2.4 GHz band provides greater distance for the connection while the 5 GHz band provides higher speed in shorter distances for the connection. When switching to the 5 GHz radio band, older 2.4 GHz clients may not be able to connect to the 5 GHz network. This document describes how to setup the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.

5 GHz Wi-Fi Network Setup

Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key. The Login page will appear.
On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.
Click the Login button. The Home page will appear.
Move the mouse-cursor over Wireless on the main menu and click the 802.11 Radio link on the sub-menu. The 802.11 Radio page will appear.
On the 802.11 Radio page, click the 5 GHz option for Band Selection.
Click the Apply button. The 5 GHz network is now enabled.

NOTE: Repeat steps 5 - 6 and select the 2.4 GHz option to re-enable the 2.4 GHz band.
