The SBG10 Wi-Fi network name (SSID) broadcasts concurrently over the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The SSID is visible to the Wi-Fi clients, and the Wi-Fi clients connect to the Wi-Fi network by selecting the SSID and entering the Wi-Fi password. Â
Hiding the SSID increases security for the Wi-Fi network. This will prevent Wi-Fi clients from detecting the SSID when viewing the available Wi-Fi networks in the home network. When the SSID is hidden, Wi-Fi clients in the network will lose wireless connection, and the SSID and Wi-Fi password will need to be manually entered into the Wi-Fi client's application to connect.  This document describes how to hide the SSID. Â
NOTE: Hiding the SSID on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band will disable the WPS (Wireless Protected Setup) feature. For more information on WPS, refer to article 24501 - SBG10: WPS PBC Setup.
